Michelle Borowitz, PhD
I’m a licensed clinical psychologist with a passion for helping people live a life aligned with their values. I’m also a mom of two who felt burned out and had to figure out big changes to make in response. As a therapist, I help clients identify what isn’t working in their own life and explore changes that feel attainable, sustainable, and helpful. In addition to a vast repertoire of evidence-based approaches to change that can be applied to a number of behaviors, I draw from my personal experience to connect with clients and develop a plan tailored to their specific needs.
I specialize in helping clients understand the motivations and context driving their thoughts behavior, and to develop strategies to let go of unwanted habits while replacing them with practices consistent with the life they want to live. Some examples of the issues I can help address are include:
Anxiety
Coping with stress/burnout
Depression
Reducing unwanted behaviors (eg., substance use, binge eating)
My approach is integrative, utilizing principles of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and motivational interviewing (MI). I place emphasis on exploring your personal values and using these to inform your goals as you work toward a more satisfying life. I am a firm believer that you are the expert on your own experience, and will work with you to develop a treatment plan that fits your needs.
Therapy is most effective when the relationship between therapist and client feels collaborative. To help decide if I’m the therapist for you, book a free consultation to chat with me and see if we’re a good fit.
